About Massage Therapy

Massage in Dahab

All complementary therapy works on the theory that following stress, injury or illness, the body is in a state of 'imbalance' or 'dis-ease'. Massage and reflexology may be used to maintain the body's equilibrium and encourage the body's natural ability to heal itself; by releasing tension and increasing circulation, energy and balance can be restored.

When muscles are overworked or tense due to stress, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle, causing soreness and stiffness. Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow to the tissues and brings fresh oxygen to the cells. The elimination of waste products from the body can aid healing after injury, and enhance recovery from 'dis-ease'. Massage therapies also directly affect the nervous system giving an overall feeling of relaxation and calm.

There are many different types of massage therapy, all working slightly differently to affect the body.
