Accommodation & Getting Around
Example prices based on 2 sharing:
- Le Meridien 5* - £470 with breakfast buffet, £330 without breakfast (booking with www.expedia.com)
- Coral Coast Hotel 2* - £220 with breakfast (book direct www.fantasearedsea.com)

Accommodation is easy to find and prices range from about £10 a night for a basic hut in one of the back-packer ‘camps’ to 5* resorts (be aware that the star rating in Egypt is not quite the same as in Europe!). Expect friendly staff and ‘shabby chic’ but clean rooms in the 2 star resorts, and if you are staying in a camp, don’t be surprised if you don’t get hot water. The more expensive hotels tend to be situated a little out of town, otherwise most accommodation is walking distance.
Have a look at www.dahab.net and www.dahab-info.com for more accommodation options.
GETTING AROUND
Dahab is generally flat (though surrounded by mountains) and is easy to get around by bike. There are a couple of bike hire places in town, but beware the Egyptian drivers (not indicating, stopping randomly and pulling out without looking are common) and cycling at night can be even more hazardous as drivers rarely use their lights!
Pick-ups or Jeeps are the standard taxis, and depending on where you are in town and where you want to get to, prices range from 5 le (for a short trip) to 30 le (to the farthest hotel).
